MJ FLAWS is Denver based musician Mitchel Paulson, a veteran artist formerly known as "Moxie". Paulson finished his first solo album under the 'MJ FLAWS' moniker, the debut lo-fi, emo rap album “Army of the Brokenhearted Boys & Girls” in May, 2020, which spawned the hit single "Closer to You", and released his second album under the MJ FLAWS moniker, "Such a Good Kid, Though." in March, 2021. In June of 2022, FLAWS was back with a more refined sound on the acclaimed "We Weren't Nothin Special", showing off his traditional storytelling with a more risk taking approach to his vocal stylings. To celebrate 15 years in the game, Paulson released "Me and My Friends are Dead.", a "best of" compilation album in 2023 spanning fifteen years of albums, immediately praised for its "what's old is new again" popularity.. Paulson, in the MJ FLAWS character, shows a vulnerability with his DIY, grown up brokenhearted love stories seldom seen in artists approaching middle age, yet this emo style rap music will certainly emanate with and be relatable to any Millennial who grew up with the genre stalwarts of the early 2000s- My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte- while showing similarities to artists in the genre today-Machine Gun Kelly, Lil Peep, nothing, nowhere, and more . While MJ FLAWS, like so many others in his generation, struggle with the idea that they are too old to feel this way, his music will no doubt be a rallying cry for those to put on the black eye shadow and sink into all those feelings of angst, love, heartbreak, and ultimately, hope.
